The Central Drakensberg offers a wide range of interesting and exciting activities - there is something for everyone, from enjoying a concert or music festival at the world renowned Drakensberg Boys' Choir to riding the high wire at the Drakensberg Canopy Tour.

Sports

  • Golf - Championship and mashie courses cater for all levels.
  • Bowls - The Nest Hotel is well known for its greens: Annual tournaments provide for keen bowlers to enjoy some competition. Casual tabs-in are on Wednesdays and Saturday afternoons.

  • Mountain biking - we are next door to Mountain Splendour Eco-Resort which hosts several cycling and athletic events during the year. We are also well-situated for the Berg n Bush events.

  • Hydro-electric scheme at Oliviers Hoek Pass
  • The Midlands Meander and Clarens featuring local crafters are easy day trips

Shops & Restaurants

  • There is a wide variety of places to eat out from a delicious tea and cakes at the local bakery through 'pub grub' at the Monks Cowl Golf Course to the splendid buffets at the several well-known hotels in the area.
  • There are 2 superette-type shops in the area which are well-stocked with holiday basics.
  • A nearby novel shopping centre is an interesting stop to shop for a variety of local arts and crafts, clothing and jewellery items. It also has a well-run information centre.
